Land Stewards: Furtado Riparian Planting Day 1

Saturday, November 12, 2022

From Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority:

Furtado Barn is a beautiful riparian site with lots of potential for restoration. This November we are excited to return to the Furtado Barn Restoration Area in order to plant native plant plugs from the Xerces Society! Plugs (which are small plant starts) will be put in the ground at two prepared work sites at Furtado in order to enhance native plant diversity for monarch butterflies!

We will provide clean gloves, tools, and project-related supplies as well as training for the day. You must have a Release of Liability form and have completed our volunteer vaccination survey. Forms can be found at the links in your email confirmation and in follow up emails from the event organizer at Please complete these forms at least 3 days ahead of time to ensure that we can send out directions! We will meet promptly at Alum Rock Park at 8:30 a.m., then caravan up to the Furtado Barn restoration area. Specific location will be sent to volunteers once we have checked all paperwork. P?lease note that youth 14-17 are welcome to join us with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. Please let us know if you intend to bring youth to volunteer so that we can send over the required paperwork.
