This online program runs Thursdays from 2:30PM to 4:30 PM, January 27, 2022 through April 14, 2022.
This 10-week class will provide you with the knowledge to:
o Water according to the needs of the season, the plant, and site soil conditionso Prune selectively and properly to compliment the natural form and needs of the planto Use alternative approaches such as Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques, before turning to pesticides and herbicideso Help protect air quality by using hand-powered equipment or fuel-efficient, low-emission equipmento Check soil for fertility, texture, and moistureo Use compost and mulch to feed the soils naturallyo Install water efficient irrigation systems and regularly maintain themo Compost plant debris and grass-cycleo Use local plant varieties that are California natives or adapted to our Mediterranean climate and not invasive species
In order to receive the certificate you must attend at least 80% of the classes and pass a final exam. Upon passing you will be identified as a Santa Clara Valley Green Gardener and will receive free advertising and promotional referrals to clients seeking “Green” or sustainable landscaping services.
Students must be registered a week before the class start date in order to be enrolled into the Learning Management System (LMS) - Schoology. Zoom access to this class will be through Schoology!
When you enroll, you are automatically eligible for the discounted enrollment fee of $90, if you provide documentation on the first day of class, that you work in landscape management. If you are NOT ELIGIBLE, you will be required to pay an additional fee of $60 after the start of class. For more information call (408)-522-2700.
